Product Development For Bozo’s - February 2009

Hello and welcome to this month’s newsletter, February already! I am in apology mode once more…late again!

In my defence Lee and I have been hugely busy getting the new website up to speed and…it’s amazing how many bugs you find once you start testing! I was once told (many years ago when I was setting up a recruitment business)… ”large projects like this always cost twice as much as you expect and take three times as long”. It’s very true!

The bottom line we are now behind on just about everything! But we keep going! Persistence is the one thing failure can’t live with! If nothing else, I am a persistent old ********!

However, I promise that once everything is ready, it will be a much better “user experience” that you have when “interfacing” with APD :>)

So, moving quickly on, let’s get going.

I haven’t talked about the dreaded downturn for quite a while now. I’m sure you can see for yourself that this is not a normal “blip” now. If you can remember back, I first called trouble when I got home from Vancouver in August 2007. Go back and have a look if you don’t believe me!

I’ll be the first to admit it’s taken a while to really hit the world economy, but summer 2007 was when the sub prime crisis started to break in the U.S.

What I hadn’t realised was the extent of the mess the Banks had caused (mind you, none of my Banking chums knew either, says it all really). So, I hope you have been following Robert Peston for the inside track on this because you do need to understand what is going on. And, he is particularly good at breaking things down into words of a few syllables that we can all understand!

I admit that I got the scale of this thing wrong. I definitely said “in the great scheme of things it will only be a ripple”, but it is bigger than that. I should have guessed when I was told by an exotics trader that a bank (that has to remain unnamed) had posted profits of close to $1 billion in a quarter on derivatives trading. His exact words to me were, “Someone has to be holding the other end of the stick…I’d hate to see what happens when this all unravels”.

It’s unravelling!

I’m not going to explain how the Banks made this mess again, but never before have we had a Banking led recession. And the fact that there is now less than zero confidence in the world’s banks is hurting the global economy big time – even the most robust economies.

However, and I have said this before, the online world is still prospering. It is where you MUST take your business if you want to succeed.

The top ten retailers who operate online saw an across the board 37% increase in Internet sales over Christmas…while the high street squirmed, screamed and squealed (and kicked a bit too).

Nielsen Online reported Amazon was the most visited website in December 2008 with 15.6 million visitors 17% up on 2007 (I think that is a U.K figure). Is it no surprise that Zavvi (ex Virgin music and U.K CD/DVD retailer) is going out of business?

They can’t compete with Amazon in the more niche markets where Amazon clean up and make that incremental profit on the higher margin items.

The world is shifting and Amazon wins because of the economies of scale and variation they are able to supply. It is impossible for the high street to offer this breadth of product, they don’t have enough shop space. And, here in the U.K we see Tesco’s and Sainbury’s (and the other major supermarket groups) offering the top 50 CD’s and DVD’s at giveaway prices, the traditional music retailer is being squeezed out of existence.

Music and film was a large proportion of now defunct U.K retailer Woolworths, again, couldn’t compete with Amazon (they also had other issues as well, but you get the idea).

Littlewoods (a U.K catalogue operation) saw online sales increase by a massive 66% in December. What further proof do you need??

There is NOT a recession happening online! Taking your business online offers you numerous advantages over a traditional business model.

You should be seriously thinking about how you can productise what it is you do? Think about what you know that people would pay for? What do you find easy that others find difficult? What comes naturally to you?

Then…how can you turn that into a product? Ideally an information product that you can deliver via CD, DVD, Online audio or video download. Ebook or PDF report, all are great, cost effective delivery methods for information products.

I have heard it argued that you dilute your offering by not being personal - but that’s not true. You are making your valuable information available to a wider audience at a far lower price than you would be able if you were offering 1 to 1 consultancy.

This is, as they say, a “no-brainer” and is a great way to start your online “information empire”. It’s the only way to go…you know it makes sense!

Yes, there is a learning curve to getting online. But, it’s not that difficult. If I can do it, you can too! (I haven’t said that for a while).

Find a PLR product and get it online!

www.apd-marketing.co.uk/infoprods.html

This was a PLR eBook that I found, (paid very little for) re-hashed, added about an extra 30% and now sell online. Easy!

www.apd-marketing.co.uk/buildwebsite.htm

This one I got from Tom Hua’s excellent Ebook Wholesaler site. I haven’t changed one thing on this site or in this book, this is how the PLR package came. O.K, I know I need to make it unique, but I haven’t had time and it’s doing O.K.

Go to the new site and the free stuff page. If you don’t believe me download Armand Morin’s “An Obvious Truth” or just click this link. Armand is quite explicit about this. He re-enforces what I am saying here, so don’t just hear it from me…hear it from someone who has generated over $50 million worth of online sales.

Time to get tough on you…you have NO excuses. It’s true there is a lot of crap taught out there. And it is also true there is no such thing as a get rich quick scheme like some so called “Guru’s” would have you believe.

You have to make the effort and learn what you need to learn in order to suceed, Internet Marketing is a business like any other…which is where so many people fall down. They expect to read one $37 eBook and earn a million dollars – sorry.

But, if you are prepared to put in a little effort, learn how to do this, it’s not difficult, time yes, brain power…some required. I repeat…the online world is simply not partaking in this “alleged” recession. Whoops, I said the “R” word, not as bad as the “D” word though! If you haven’t been listening, Gordon Brown accidentally called the current recession “the depression”. Oh dear, Gordon. How not to rally the economy, he really has goofed big time with this one (unless he knows something he’s not telling of course).

I think that’s enough for this month. Please do explore the new site at www.apd-marketing.co.uk Let me if you find any “glitches”!

Also remember the new blog at www.apdinternetmarketing.blogspot.com

You can also now catch APD on YouTube under the name apdmarket and why not check out our HubPages at http://hubpages.com/profile/apd%20marketing - do give us the “thumbs up”!

Although, amusingly, Hub Pages haven’t quite worked out what APD is about yet…the Adwords ads on our home Hub are offering pictures of Anna Kournikova and bikini clad young ladies. I’m sure Google will work it out soon, but I did laugh when I noticed!

By the way, I hope you are paying attention to this new strategy I am implementing here! More of that very soon.

And finally…I was really hoping to have the new newsletter blog up and running. It’s coming along, but Lee and I simply bit off more than we could chew this month. You’d think at my age I would have learned, but hey…why not push yourself.

If you aim low and miss your goal, well, urghhh, what have you achieved?

However, if you shoot high and just miss chances are you will have achieved something very worthwhile.

With that thought I will wish you well. If you have any comments, please drop me a mail through the website.

As always…to *YOUR* success.

Cheers now…and have fun!

Money Is NOT The Problem! - January 2009

Hello and welcome to the first edition ofthe APD newsletter in 2009! Happy new year.

I’m sorry it’s a bit late this month… I have been snow bound in Vancouver– yes that’s right… snowbound. We went over to Canada for Christmas and landed in a blizzard (not recommended) and left many, many hours delayed with deep snow still on the ground.

Vancouver had 104cm (I think that’s about 3 and a half feet!) of snow while we were there when they norm ally only manage 48cm in an entire average winter.

Of course all of this bad weather played havoc with the flights, and once something goes wrong the knock on effect is devastating… ask British Airways.

W e had a nightmare journey hom e and ended up being awake for39 hours straight.

Now I know why sleep depravation is used as a method of torture!I have only just regained my senses! It was a surreal experience!
And, to cap it all just when you think BA really should do everything possible to make their customers happy after such a huge delay… they left us standing in baggage reclaim for45 minutes without telling us where our bags were… when, you’ve guessed it,they had been enjoying the ride on belt 11 for 30 minutes.

Nice as T5 is, I really just wanted to get home by this time!

This is not how to deal with customer service! Needless to say, BA probably got 50%  more complaints than they would have got without this “final straw”.

M oving on… this month will probably be the last “formal”  monthly newsletter as APD moves to a more “flexible” method of information delivery.

The new website is very nearly finished and the best way I can describe it is that it is like an “online newspaper”.

Alison, Lee and I will be making sure the information contained on the site is a “living entity” which will be updated regularly, as I said last month, hopefully on almost a daily basis.

The newsletter will become blog-based and you will just get a quick mail directing you to the blog when a new post is made. Blogging really does make the entire operation much easier to manage, so I envisage blog content (newsletters) on a far more frequent basis.

The whole ethos will be to get hot and profitable information to you far, far quicker than currently. That has to be good for both you and me.

The new form at will allow me to get better information, better product reviews and news to you faster than before and will make sure that all you need to do to ensure you are fully up todate in the IM world is to be subscribed here. Easy,eh?

O .K, so for the final formal newsletter, I’m going to talk about money not being a problem !

What? M oney’s notthe problem ?

Not a phrase one hears very often, is it? Particularly in these allegedly dark recessionary days.

In fact, I can remember back to my own dark days when there genuinely was too much month at the end of the money and life as a wage slave seemed a never-ending drudge.

Money very definitely was a problem when I got my first mortgage!

However, I’m not talking about life in general here. I’m talking about in business, and the point I’m getting at is that in most cases… money isn’t the problem when starting up your business.

Now, if you’ve hankered after your own business or tried and failed to get started, you will know what the problem is.

I’ll give you three guesses, but I think you’ll only need one.

Got it?

Yep, correct, the idea is the problem .

I read a quote from a guy called Ken Hakuta (he was the creator of some wacky products in the 80’s) and quite simply it was this,

“Lack of money is no obstacle. Lack of an idea IS an obstacle.”

This is so true.

I hear from loads of people who all want to get their slice of the e-business pie (and believe me it is a big, big, profitable pie, so why not?), but they all lack this one critical ingredient.

The bottom line is thatyou don’tneed to spend an awful lot of money marketing on the Internet if you’re prepared to put the bulk of the work in yourself. But… .how do you get started without an idea /product/service?

W ell, the first thing to do is to take a step back and consider some key points. Now this has to be done seriously, or it won’t work. And you HAVE to be committed to doing this, or again it won’t work. I hate wasting time, so should you!

So, take that step back, get yourself a pen and paper and start to jot down some thoughts on the following questions:-
1. What are you interested in?
2. What are you passionate about?
3. What topic(s) do you have in depth knowledge about?
4. What do people come to you for advice on?
5. What do you find easy (that others find difficult)?

It is vitally important that you take your time on this and fully consider the implications.

However, what I would say is that many of the greatest successes I know of come when people pursue something that they are passionate about.
Friends Reunited is a prime example of people with a passion making a profitable business out of it.

How much did this site sell for last year?

Think of YouTube, why did Google spend over$1 billion buying YouTube?
Of course, the best side effect of doing it this way is that it doesn’t feel like work, it will be fun.

I think the last statistic I read on this (back when I was in recruitment) was that less than 5% ofpeople enjoy their work.

How sad is that?

Now I have heard it said that this can lead to some obscure ideas and highly specialized products. If that’s what it leads you to, don’t worry.

The Internet is ideal for marketing to niches. Indeed, your marketing costs will be much lower if you only have to target one specialized market. Adwords costs are likely to be much less for a start if you go after one small, specialized niche. It just gets better, doesn’t it?

Anyway, moving on, just one more little tip before I close.

Did you know that most successful entrepreneurs get their business ideas from studying niche markets and then developing a product or service that solves a common problem or need.

You know it makes sense.

This is a beautiful model simply because people will already be actively looking for what you are going to develop. You will already have identified the market and therefore will be able to focus your efforts  “laserlike” on those people most likely to buy from you! O nce you do this, I
guarantee, money will no longer be a problem for you either!

Now, having said all of that, I have given a fairly simplistic overview here. I mentioned last month that I am developing a major new all encompassing Internet Marketing product with Lee Brooker.

I have just finished another part of the course this week and it is an in-depth niche research and product idea development lesson. I’m rather proud of it and if you get your hands on it I am confident you will NEVER struggle for product ideas again!

Lee and I are now just over halfway through so we’ll be out to you later in January with the pre-launch,which you’ll want to make sure you get registered for.

W e’re going to be giving away loads of a azing info just for registering.

The pre-launch info will be just a small taster of what will actually be contained in the product itself.

This really will be a “no fail” option… just what this market needs to blow away the smoke and mirrors!

So, keep your eyes open, it’s coming… soon!

And, just before I finish this last “official” newsletter, some food for thought. I read today (in the London Telegraph) that retail sales were very poor during December and that 2008 will go down as a very bad year all round.

What they also reported, tucked away in a little corner, was that sales online were up 30% in 2008.

I have a friend who works for a major clothes retailer here in the UK, he told me shop sales were down 6% but that online sales were up 12% .

The message is clear. Online is the place to be in 2009.

And, finally, finally, we are in recession, big time. I’m old enough and ugly enough to admit I called this slightly wrong. Even having spent 15 years supplying into the City and with the inside contacts I have, I totally underestimated the magnitude of the current situation.

It is bad, very bad. But… the place that is bucking all the rapidly escalating downward trends in online.

I rest my case!

If you haven’t already seen it and want to know how close we came to meltdown, watch the
December 23rd issue of Panoram a… here’s the link.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/program m es/b00gbds9

This is the BBC iPlayerlink, so Idon’t think you’ll be able to watch outside of Europe (or more than a month after publication), but try
anyway, it’s certainly worth it if iPlayer does let you watch.

O .K, that’s it for this month. Hopefully we will be blog-based by the time I next mail you about the newsletter!

Have a fantastic and hugely prosperous 2009.

As always… to *YO UR*success.

Cheers now…and, have fun!

Turn Time Into Money

Tales From The Bootcamp 2 - August 2008

Hi and welcome to the August 2008 APD Newsletter.

Wow, August already, and for those of us in the U.K summer still hasn’t really
started! Now if ever there was a reason to get your own auto pilot income business up
and running and profitable (so you can run it from beside a Spanish beach)…surely
the British weather has to be a major motivator!

O.K, if you’re not reading this from somewhere in the U.K, you might need to find
other motivation, but for Brits…I would suggest the weather is one of the best
motivators around. Most of my leisure time this summer has been spent in this green
and pleasant (and very wet) land, but I am now at breaking point so I’m off for some
sunshine in a couple of week’s time!

Anyway, enough of my weather rants, back to business as I take a further look at
some of the ideas that came out of the Andrew Reynolds bootcamp a few weeks back.

http://www.cash-on-demand-workshop.com/bootcamp/

I know many of you took up the DVD offer (link above) and I know you’ll be starting
to reap the benefits, but do still read this newsletter as I’ll be highlighting areas of
special interest.

One area that came through loud and clear was regards product development. I have
to admit I was cringing when I heard this! This was me when I first started!

Most people who are looking to develop a business, be that online or traditional,
develop the product first and then look to market it…wrong!

The first thing you MUST do is find a hungry market…before you do anything else! I
know I’ve said this before, but it still amazes me the number of people who approach
me with a product they have spent years developing without doing a scrap of research.

It seems blindingly obvious to me now, but when I think back…I had my idea and I
was totally blinkered. The rose-tinted glasses were on and my product was the best
thing out there and was going to sell by the thousand.

My first experience of this was as a very young and green twenty something. I spent a
fortune getting a range of sepiatoned photographic prints made up and expertly
framed. I then spent a lot more buying a stand at a huge craft fair which ran over three
days in Milton Keynes.

I then sat there on the stand for those three days and sold….wait for it…

TWO pictures. Did I learn my lesson?

Of course not!

When I first went online I read all of the books, watched a load of video tapes and
proceeded to get it wrong again.

Now I have learned my lesson. If I have an idea, I research the market first.

I look for competitive products (these are good by the way), I look for forums where
the subject is discussed, I do Google searches, I use keyword research tools to find out
how many searches are being done online. I look at the magazine racks…in short, I
make sure there is a market before I even think about launching a product.

And, when I first test a market, I do it as an affiliate. I find a product in that market on
Clickbank and I promote it. I set a small budget and I test ad variations and I see if I
can make money.

If I can make money in the niche, then…and only then do I look to develop my own
product.

As it happens, watch this space on this subject. A good friend of mine has developed a
product and I am going to teach him how to market online. At the moment he knows
nothing…and I mean nothing! Adwords got a completely blank look from him! So, I
am going to show him, top to bottom, how to go about marketing online.

Did he do his research? No, he didn’t! However, he was very lucky as he had picked a
very, very hungry market. As soon as he showed me the product I knew. There are
rare occasions when you do just know. And, when I did the online research it did
confirmed what I thought, so…we’ll be sitting down in the next couple of weeks to
market this product.

I’ll be filming the entire process and I’ll be making it available…this will be one you
won’t want to miss!

Anyway, the point is simple…before you spend anything on product development (be
that your time or money) make sure you KNOW for sure that there is a hungry market
waiting to buy.

One of the other things that I got at Bootcamp was a massive injection of positive.
Now, normally I am the most positive person around. Many people have been known
to hate me as I’m one of these annoying people that wake up in the morning and start
flying around at 100 miles an hour, singing and generally being noisy.

However, every now and then it is good to get a new injection of positive to keep you
on the right track and motivated. With the best will in the world, even positive people
sometimes have the odd dip here and there and…there is nothing like an influx of
positive input every so often.

Pat Mesiti was the PMA guru for the weekend…a real bundle of Aussie energy!
Hyper doesn’t describe him, but what great ideas he delivered…I’ll cover just a
couple of the main themes.

In short he said that if you want to have the money, lifestyle and everything that goes
with having a successful business, then your mind has to evolve to the level where
you can deal with wealth.

He cited the example of a very famous American heavyweight boxer who earned over $400 million during his career but was now flat broke and in and out of prison.

$400 million blown on nothing!

The essence of this is that you have to control your own attitude to life and show the
discipline needed to grow and develop with your business.

You do this by making sure you read and watch the right stuff, and set goals and
priorities for yourself.

For example, if you want to build a lifestyle for yourself where you have numerous
autopilot profit streams and you need to learn, say Google Adwords, to help generate
profits…would you give up the “game on TV” to learn what you need to learn?

I talked last month about going that extra mile. I’ve talked before about sitting there at
9pm on a Friday night writing this newsletter. I gave up a weekend to be at Bootcamp.

In short…I have my priorities right and it’s why this week I have spent a day out with
my eldest son, I’ll be off for a luxury week in Spain soon, I’ll be spending three
weeks in Vancouver soon and I got up at 9am this morning and walked the three yards
to “work”!

You see I took the hit a few years back. I put in the hard work, I got my mind focused
the right way and I did what it took to get me to where I am now.

What else did I do to get here?

I set goals. I know, I can hear the collective sigh from here “Yeah, we all know about
goals”.

Do YOU have your goals written down? Do you even have any goals set?

Every positive mental attitude book, DVD or CD will tell you the most successful 5%
of the population are those with written goals! It’s true so please get your goals
written down…ideally with pictures to support.

Andrew did a brilliant session on goal setting and it was an area I had let slip a little
(at least I’m honest with you).

However, after Bootcamp, I was re-invigorated and have re-set and massively
“upped” my goals.

You see…it’s that injection of positive again!

As it happens, Andrew still has the bootcamp DVDs available, and if you haven’t got
yourself a copy yet, I seriously suggest you invest. Click on the link below…

http://www.cash-on-demand-workshop.com/bootcamp/

Invest in yourself, was one of Pat’s main themes. If you want success and you haven’t
got it now, then it follows you will need to do something different in future to get you
to where you want to be. Simple stuff.

Investing in the “right stuff” for yourself (and your loved ones) is one of the main
support pillars of all successful people!

I’ve got some really interesting stuff coming up for you during the course of the next
month, so you will hear from me a little bit more often over the coming weeks, but it
will all be designed to help you really move your business and life to where you want
it to be.

So, stop making excuses and just “DO IT”…start doing something to secure your
financial independence and future lifestyle…NOW.

http://www.cash-on-demand-workshop.com/bootcamp/

O.K, that’s it for now, do read this newsletter again and think about what you really
want. Final word…I am nothing special, I spent 20 years as a recruiter (it pains me to
think about it now)…if I can do it – so can YOU!

As always…to YOUR success.

Cheers now, and have fun!

How Lucky Are You? - September 2007

How Lucky Are You?

Hello again, and welcome to this month’s newsletter. Well, I can’t believe we are now
into September and it has suddenly become very noticeable that the nights are
drawing in. The football season is now well under way and it won’t be long before the
first frost arrives!

I love the autumn though. I wake up on a cold autumn morning and look in wonder at
the bright blue sky. I love the way the yellow, orange and red leaves contrast with the
sky’s blue, I love the way the low sun shines on the shimmering leaves. On mornings
such as this I genuinely think: “How lucky I am to be alive”!

So, how lucky are you? No, not just to be alive…but in life generally.

Whilst you know I like to ask tough questions, I reckon this is a tad easier! I’m
willing to bet you will have a good idea of how lucky you are. Where would you rate
yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the luckiest)?

I was going to talk about looking for product ideas this month, and amazingly (or
should I say luckily) I saw an article on the TV that brought these two subjects
together. Another lucky coincidence was that I’d read an old article from about four
years ago that connected the two subjects as well. So, I thought, as I’d been lucky, I’d
give you my take on this.

Now before I go into this in more detail, the need for product ideas is the one thing
that holds so many people back. It is something I get asked about constantly and it
appears to be an age-old problem. What to sell? How do I get ideas for products?

To be honest this doesn’t need to be a problem!

Anyway, back to the article I saw on TV. This is what happened.

A scientist was walking around Covent Garden with a copy of a magazine and he was
asking people to look through the magazine and count the pictures. He put them under
a time constraint and…if they got the right answer within the time allowed, the
“contestant” won a fiver.

So, people would rush off and count the pictures. Out of 14 people who took the trial
only two won the fiver. There were 77 pictures. OK, difficult to flick through a
magazine and count that many pictures in 60 seconds – very difficult indeed.

However, before he asked people to take this little test, he asked how lucky they were.

Here’s the amazing bit, the two people who thought they were the luckiest were the
two people who won the fiver.

And…even more amazingly, neither of them counted all of the pictures!

OK, I know you’re now thinking this was some sort of trick here…and it sort of was!
About ten pages in, on the left hand side, was a page that simply said in big bold black
letters on a plain white background: “Stop counting, there are 77 pictures”. As it
happens, neither of the winners saw this page (obviously none of the losers did
either).

However, just over half way through there was another page that said. “Stop counting,
tell the tester you’ve seen this page and you have won the £5”. The two “lucky”
people saw this page and claimed their fiver.

So, what’s the point?

Simply this. The scientist stated that there had been many studies conducted and it has
been “probably” proved that lucky people are simply more observant of their
surroundings and the opportunities presented to them.

Now this is a bit of an “ethereal” area, but this little experiment does sort of prove the
point.

I remember from the past an old saying that ”you make your own luck” and that luck
is simply “Labouring Under Correct Knowledge”…and this again, is “sort” of true.

So, if you’re looking for products to sell and build your business with…how
observant (lucky) are you?

How often do you go to forums on-line and look for problems people are
experiencing? A problem solved is a profitable product!

How often do you read about problems in the paper and think about how to solve it? Do you read the business pages to see what is going on?

How often do you get frustrated with a product and say “if only it did this or that”? How often do you wish for a certain service or product?

What are your areas of expertise and what problems are you able to solve? Are these
problems lots of other people have as well? All you need to do to find a forum is go
on to Google and type forum + subject. Read the forums, most of them have an FAQ
section, could this be made into a product? Go try!

There are forums on every topic under the sun and there is sure to be at least one in
your area of either interest or expertise, so see what people are saying there. What can
you deliver to the members in return for profit? It’s certainly easier to build a product
if it’s a subject you know intimately.

So, another difficult question for you…how often do you think you have passed a
product idea by during your lifetime? Ouch! That one hurt. Indeed, it hurt me when I
re-read that old article I mentioned earlier.

I totally missed the relevance of this first time round, but…it referred to the first series
of Dragon’s Den. I’ve dipped into the program occasionally, but the point is this.
Dragon’s Den is full of people presenting business ideas to a panel of wealthy
entrepreneurs each week. What better way to fill your head with product ideas?

I have to admit I can’t believe this one actually passed me by! Each week most of the
presentations get rejected, but…a different slant, an enhancement, a more efficient
version, a version for a different market? I’ve just watched it for pure entertainment,
when I could have been trawling it for profitable product ideas – derrr!

So, how about another slant? What about when you go abroad for your holidays?
Three years ago in Vancouver I saw this amazing gadget that throws a ball for a dog
to chase. It’s a sort of sling that launches the ball a very long way and also picks up
the ball. This means that the dog gets great exercise and the owner doesn’t have to
pick up the ball covered in nasty saliva with their hands.

Guess what? I’ve started to see them over here now. I must admit, I thought it was a
good idea when I first saw it. However, someone saw the thing, thought it was a good
idea and DID something with it and imported the product into the UK. I expect that
person is doing rather well.

There are just so many ideas and products out there just waiting for YOU.

So, why do so many people seem to have this “shell” around them that stops them
“seeing” these things?

I’m not sure, maybe it’s the pace of life these days, but…I have decided that I should take more time over things and just generally, look at things much more carefully. I think this will prove to be a very good discipline regardless, but I’m sure if I persist I will generate some great new ideas for products and / or services.

Maybe I might just get lucky! Maybe you might too!

One thing is for sure, you can sell pretty much anything over the internet these days.
The cost of building a web site is coming down day by day as are all the other costs
involved, particularly eCommerce solutions.

So…you have no excuse for not getting out there and building your own success.
Ideas are simply everywhere, you just have to cultivate the right mindset to be able to
“see” all of that opportunity.

On a totally different subject, following on from my note to you about Adwords
Excellence, I’ve spoken to Stewart at AE today and had a look at the number of
people who took up my referral. It’s really low! I can’t believe that! Did you not look
at it properly??

If you want to make a success of marketing on-line learning how to get the best from
Google Adwords is absolutely essential. I guarantee, if you don’t get your Adwords
campaigns right, you will lose money. Stewart is the undisputed king of Adwords in
the UK.

I cannot recommend this service highly enough and, still, for just a short time longer,
you can sign up FREE. Yes, for no cost. You CAN learn everything you need to
become successful with Adwords for no cost to yourself. If you are serious about
marketing online you just cannot afford to turn this chance down.
So, once again, here is the link…

Editors Note 2009 - sadly the AWE service left the internet in late 2008. A sad loss!

Without wishing to be rude…do yourself a favour and get into this.

So, with autumn nearly upon us and the winter months to follow, this is the ideal time
to spend those dark winter nights getting lucky. Open your eyes to the possibilities
and come next spring I reckon you could be on the path to freedom. What a great
word – freedom.

I’ll be launching further products to help you achieve just that in September. The
Total Control system is now ready and the website is being developed. This will help
you unlock the secrets of how the money power giants do what they do (make buckets
of money).

And I have a referral to an incredible product for you in the next few days. This one
will come with products ready made in it, so you won’t even have to worry about
finding or developing the products! How easy do you want this??

On that positive note, I shall bid you farewell. Any questions, comments or just plain
insults, please feel free to email me, and I’ll try and get back to you as soon as I can.

As always…to *YOUR* success

Cheers now and…have fun.

How To Find Great information Product Ideas

What Do YOU Need? Feb 2007

Hello and welcome to the February 2007  edition of the APD Marketing newsletter. With Christmas now a distant memory and the new-year “commitment to change” also fading just a rapidly, I thought I’d ask for a bit of help this month. OK, I know I need to incentivise you to help me but more of that later…

But first (as always), I have a question for you.

I know you are interested in starting your own business. You wouldn’t have
subscribed to my “business start-up course” if you weren’t. Ha, got you on that one haven’t I?

But seriously, I have a question that’s been bugging me over the last 6 or 7
weeks. And it’s this…

What Do YOU Need To Be Successful?

I seriously doubt if anyone has ever asked you that before. And…I couldn’t be more serious. This is why.

You see, in November I launched my “Instant OnLine Riches” kit (note March 2009, product now withdrawn). You’ve seen the website. The kit is a basic intro into the world of Internet Marketing and it also has things like an HTML web page (WYSIWYG) generator, and access to myself (and my network) for consultancy via email, so, an ideal kit to get you up and running…Or so I thought.

Time to be brutally honest, sales have been nowhere near as good as I expected.

I have to admit to being surprised, especially as I was using a general business start up course to try and “persuade” you guys into buying. So, you obviously want to start a business, online has to be the place to be (or does it?) and I have an online start up kit, but…It hasn’t sold awfully well.

I expected it to be an out and out winner, but it wasn’t.

So, having thought about it, it became clear that is not what the market wanted. Yes, I know it shouldn’t really have taken me six weeks to realise that, but… I was just so surprised. I suppose, as I said last month, nothing should surprise us in this business, but there you go. I’ll take it on the chin (can’t do anything else really)!

But, in view of what I’ve found, I just have to ask you, what it is you really need to be successful in your business? What areas of your business are giving you trouble?
What barriers are you finding it difficult to break through?

This got me thinking back to when I first started.

To give you an example, I’m not brilliant with technical things. It takes me a long time to understand these things. So, when I started I needed to learn things slowly in point and click detail. So, for example, would a point and click guide on how to develop a Frontpage website help you?
Google Adwords is a real labyrinth to try and work your way through when you first start. Would an in depth guide help you become more efficient and build sales in your business?

Search Engine Optimisation is an absolute minefield with very few guarantees of success, is this holding you back?

Going back to my early days, I know one thing that I had huge trouble with was finding the right copywriter. It slowed me down by three or four months as I remember. I have an idea that this may be an area of concern. Is this you?

As it happens, I’m in the process of putting together a really comprehensive package of copywriting products. Part of the deal will be a critique of two of your sales letters by my copywriter business parter Alison. Would this be of use to you?

So, just what is it that’s holding you back? What information or help do you NEED to move your business on to the next stage?

I mentioned at the start of the newsletter I’d incentivise you to help me here, so, for every reply I receive (no matter how insulting), I’ll send you a free eBook as my way of saying thank-you for taking the trouble to respond. A fair exchange I hope. I’m not sure what eBook it will be just yet, but I’ll get something good out of my files, promise!

Now, I was hoping to be able to announce the launch of the new (soon to be open) APD Marketing information portal this month, but…alas, those technical bugs have bitten again!

Basically, it will be a website where you can go and find out what we’re up to at APD. There will be some free stuff for you to download and you’ll be able to get any back copies of the monthly newsletter you want. I’ll put the business start up course up as well, just in case you lost a lesson or two along the way! Please feel free to refer a friend once it’s up and running.

So far in the free stuff is planned to contain a copy of Napoleon Hills brilliant “Think and Grow Rich” and an eBay Profits eBook. I’ll be adding more as we go along.

As soon as I’ve got the technical issues sorted, I’ll drop a mail out to you so you can go and have a look. It should only be a week or so…I hope.

That’s it for this month, a little shorter than usual, but I’m sure Ill make up for it next month! I’ll say goodbye until the next time.

Cheers now, and have fun….
