3 Things You Must Do Before You Submit To Article Directories
Article marketing is a great way to get high PR (page rank) back links to your website and therefore high volumes of profitable traffic, so...time to start brushing up those creative writing skills!
With the advent of the Internet and ever faster and better technology the popularity of information-based marketing has truly "taken off". And, it is certainly true that it is one of the most effective techniques for getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers. This is why article writing, submission and publication is so popular among the Internet Marketing community. It's free traffic after all!

There are already many tools that you can use to make the process of distributing you articles easier, though whilst these are invaluable in getting you content more exposure, it is only half of the story.
Let's take a quick look at some of the common mistakes rookie marketers make when submitting their article to the directories:
1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them.
There are three key benefits to writing and submitting articles.
...which are all essentially part of your optimization efforts.
However, when writing your articles, you should keep one main factor sharply in focus...and that is to provide quality, informative content for your reader Quite simply if your article does not focus on this primary objective, it will fail to achieve the three promotional benefits because if your article provides no benefits...no one will be interested in reading it. Simple really!
You need to figure out how to get people to read your article, then make them click on your resource box. And, they to achieve this is by producing quality, helpful and unique content.

2. Failing to maximize the promotional opportunities of article marketing.
So, you now know that your articles can help you generate additional high PR links back to your site and this is important. But do you know that you can also get more visitors and better search engine results from those same articles?
It is vitally important to include the keyword(s) you are optimizing for throughout the article. You should aim for a keyword density of about 3-5% and optimize for one keyword phrase per article. Just be sure not to overdo it, otherwise the search engines will pick up on it and designate the article as spam and any benefits will be lost!
Some directories allow you to use anchor texts links which are highly effective (using the keyword as an AHREF link). However, you should know that the majority of directories are not able to support this. Ezine Artciles is one of the biggest and most effective and sadly they do not allow anchor text links, but make use of this method where you can.
Remember though, that is not only about the links back to your site from the article sites. Part of "the plan" is to get your article picked up and used by other web publishers with large readerships. The basis the article sites work on is that anyone can use your content provided they credit you with the content (by using your resource box). This helps gain further credibility and also leverages your articles further in the search engines.
One thing you need to realize though is that this is a long term strategy. You can't expect to post an article on Monday and have gained 20 sales by Tuesday! Yes, it will happen but remember the traffic you gain is free, so it does take time to build and you should see this as an integral part of your online traffic strategy.
So, start out with a plan and see to it that your article serves the function that you set out for it!
3. Publishing quality content that does not help your readers.
One last thing to remember, ALL of the article directories have guidelines and specifications for publication. You can't get just any old rubbish published. In fact, most of them still use a human editor to read your article first! In my opinion, this is excellent quality control, because I know I give good content and I don't want my efforts being diluted by "unchecked" spammers!
So, make sure you write the articles that publishers will want one their websites / in their publications.Make sure you understand and adhere to the editorial guidelines of each directory (they are all pretty much the same).
In the end, it is up to you. If you provide basic level stuff, don't expect article marketing to give your business a massive boost. But, if you make that little extra effort in delivering quality contents, well over time, the sky is the limit. It's your choice.
If you're not sure, have a look around the article sites in your area(s) of interest, you will soon get to know what distinguishes the good from the bad to the downright ugly!

If you have been using article marketing techniques these methods will amaze you! The best part is, it does not involve all of the hard work that most people put into their article marketing.
