Why Pay Per Click Is Important For Your Website
If you're new to Internet Marketing, you'll probably be asking "What is "Pay-Per Click"?
To be honest "Pay-Per Click", is an easy enough to understand advertising concept, but...the implementation is a little more difficult :>)
The most recent figures I could find was from August 2007 which stated there are 600 million searches at major search engines everyday. These searches are responsible for about 80% of Internet traffic.

It therefore goes without saying (although I'll say it anyway) getting seen on these search results is very important for the profitability of your business! Reaching as many potential customers as possible is what you business needs, being seen high in the search engines is how you achieve that.
However, in order to be seen and clicked most frequently, your website does need to be near the top of the results list. It's hard enough to get on to the third page of a search engine let alone the first 3 or 4 places! So the lower your rank, the less chance you will be clicked.
In "Pay-Per Click" advertising (Google Adwords, Microsoft Search Network, Yahoo Search Marketing), essentially you pay to ensure you'll always be visible on the internet. In simple terms you select keywords or phrases that are relevant to your website, and that you think people will type into the search engines to find what you have to offer.
So, for example, if you sell Tennis Racquets and a big selling "model" is the Dunlop 500 Max (you can tell I don't play tennis), the you would "bid" on keywords such as...
Dunlop Max 500 Tennis Racquet
Buy Dunlop Max 500 Tennis Racquet
Dunlop Tennis Racquet
Buy Dunlop Tennis Racquet
It's then an open market...the highest bidder for those terms ranks the best and gets the best position in the sponsored listings. There is no upfront cost. You only pay after a visitor clicks your link. This is why it is called "Pay-Per Click".
It is important that you play by Google's rules though and using the example above, you MUST drive your visitors to a page selling only Dunlop Max 500 Tennis Racquets. Send them to a page selling anything else and Google will deem you not relevant and charge you outrageous prices!
You see Google's raison d'etre is to provide the best quality and most relevant search service to their users. You try to not be relevant and they will penalize you, big time. You have been warned!
Everyday millions of people around the world click on Pay-Per Click advertising campaigns. With the booming internet industry and the ever growing online business and digital delivery, your ad
can be seen anywhere in the world you want to sell to.
"Pay-Per Click" is one of the major online areas of growth growth. As of the last quarter of 2008, Google was billing $1.5 BILLION per quarter on "Pay-Per Click" alone.
You should, of course make sure your site is fully optimized for the search engines, but...this can take weeks or even months to produce results. "Pay-Per Click" advertising can attract customers at an instant.
"Pay-Per Click" advertising campaign attracts the right consumers (assuming you set your keywords correctly) in the shortest possible time. PPC is the most cost effective way of getting instant traffic.
Now, having said all of this, if you are going to use PPC marketing and Google in particular, you need to make sure you fully understand what you are doing. It would be impossible to provide the full details here, but, get Google Adwords right and you can make a lot of money. Get it wrong and it quickly becomes a money sucking Monster that will drain you dry in no time at all.
I'll come clean...it took me two years to get it right because I didn't have the right information.
Don't do what I did! Learn from the right people, here are the Google Adwords resources I have used to turn my huge losses (£1,376 in my first month for two $130 sales!) into steady profits.
